Why you need your jewellery valued.

Most people are aware that they should have their jewellery insured. However, most people don’t.

Perhaps you have been gifted some jewellery, or you require an up-to-date replacement value on an item. Maybe you would like to sell your jewellery or need to know the value for probate purposes.

Having your jewellery valued and insured gives you peace of mind that if anything is lost, damaged or stolen, your insurance claim will be quick and straightforward.

I’m a member of the Institute of Registered Valuers (IRV).  I offer independent valuation services for Insurance Replacement, Sale, Probate as well as Post Loss Assessment. As a Fellow, I must commit to the code of practice with ongoing continual professional development as well as undertaking a professional review every five years. I am committed to upholding the association’s values of honesty, integrity and professionalism.

Your Valuation Process:

It’s important that you are given the correct documentation and value for your items. A valuation report is a legal document that requires detailed gemological information as well as market research.

Each item to be valued is assessed, researched and photographed on site. Please note photographs are straight forward and act as a visual aid.

Once your jewellery is documented the items can be collected within a few days. A professional, bound valuation report is presented within two weeks. Some valuations may take longer depending on the complexity of the piece.

You may be surprised to know the true value of your items.  It is recommended that your items are re-valued by a professional every 3 to 5 years.

Your jewellery box holds and protects your most precious jewels. Sometimes those beautiful treasures are hidden at the bottom of the box never to be worn again. Perhaps you’ve found yourself staring into your treasure trove and think there is nothing worth putting on because it’s out of fashion or broken. Allow me to transform your jewellery box by providing a bespoke jewellery edit.   Give your collection and your jewellery the chance to shine again.

This service will include:

  • Advice on redesign, upcycling or selling
  • A personal bespoke tutorial on jewellery storage and care

Cataloguing your jewellery is essential as it organises your gems and jewellery.

The cataloguing service includes

  •   Name of the jewel
  •   description, measurements, approximate stone weights, metals, material
  •   simple photographs-for visual reference
  •   hallmarks, makers mark
  •   Gemmological reports, certificates, sales receipts, other documentation and  past valuations
  •   Condition
  •   Location of item

Cataloguing can be carried out on site. The final report is provided as a hardcopy and stored on a USB stick which becomes your property. Your comprehensive catalogue is a priceless asset that will eliminate guesswork and unwanted stress. Allow me to organise your collection worthy of an auction catalogue.

Note:  some stone identification and weight calculations, such as melee, larger and unusual cuts are an additional cost as this requires further research. The cataloguing service is not a valuation.
